The Story Behind the Sizzlr

I like sausage.

Growing up in Indiana sausage meant patties and breakfast links. Then came bratwurst at a baseball game in Milwaukee. New York introduced me to Italian sausage and peppers. Visits to Germany, England, Austria brought others... and then living in California added Spanish and Mexican varieties.

Then one night, cooking sausages at home, I hit a wall…

I was frying up a couple of sausages for my dinner. There was a sale at my local grocery store of bratwurst, knockwurst, and Italian sausage and it was easy to stock up. I've also been known to have kielbasa and a few others.

The Problem Everyone Ignores

Sausages curl. And that ruins everything.

They won't stay flat
You can't brown them evenly
The inside stays pale
The outside overcooks

It's like trying to fry a banana.

I Tried Everything

Boiling first — didn't work
Cooking slow — still curled
Grilling — dried out
Baking — disappointing

The issue? Natural casings shrink unevenly with heat

So I Invented a Solution

A simple device that holds sausages straight while they cook.

I called a friend of mine and asked him if he had the same problem. He agreed and we decided it needed to be fixed.

We had a critical meeting at a local burger place with my friend and his family. A small sample but his wife and two teenage children, a boy and a girl. NONE of them liked my idea and they said Sausage Sizzlr — and that is where we are, but still open to suggestions.
